2nd Rnd '25 Playoffs: Leafs vs Panthers - Flo-Rida them onto the ECF - LFG!

I think you can add Carolina, Buffalo, Philly.

Eh, Tulsky is pretty firm with paying people what the almight abacus says they're worth. I don't think that's an option here. Philly though...sure, maybe. No one goes to Buffalo when they have other options though. No one.

I can see Briere loving Marner, and Torts is gone, no idea if Tocchet is any differnet.

Buffalo can simply afford him and will try

Jackets too, a very sneaky pick IMO.

Anaheim without the beach

Tampa isn't giving Mitch 12+

They're more or less capped out already next year. Sharks, Utah, Anaheim, Chicago, Islanders all have the cap to make it happen.
He should take whatever the Leafs offer him if those are truly his other options. Though we’ve seen teams routinely dump contracts to add free agents, so he could end up anywhere.

He’s just not getting the $14m he was clearly angling for by not signing in the offseason, or the $12m that proven playoff performer Rantanen got. $10m or $11m, basically topping out at the Willy contract. We’ll see if the Leafs even want him, which I doubt, and how low he’d go to stay.

Nah, it's not bad. 28th highest paid defender in the league, good veteran, history of showing up in the playoffs. Someone will be interested and without expecting us to take an albatross in return. The bigger hurdle is it being a place he'll waive to go imo.
And then what, we add Schenn to replace him? I don’t see how we get better dealing these guys, that’s the conundrum.

He is absolutely get 12+ and might get 14

There are a list of teams with buckets of room desperate to add 100 pt talent, and i dont think Mitch gives a flying fuck about anything other than top offer

I hope you are right. I've never been a fan at any point and have never wanted him off the team more than this year. We have done nothing but lose, lose, and lose some more with this guy as our erstwhile #1 defenceman. And Morgan like the rest of our talent shrugs his shoulders and could care less no matter how much he loses.

fuck these guys.

what a waste of what is undeniably an impressive talent level on an individual basis.

A non playoff team with cap space will throw a bag at him this off season. He's a big name that will boost season tickets, and he'll help a mediocre team chase playoff revenue.

He's done here, I think it's time to just let that go. There's no point bringing him back. 11 million or 14 million, it doesn't matter. It's time to walk away. He's tiny, soft, and plays very slow for some fucking reason. He's not going to turn into a playoff warrior, and his main standout ability (the ability the evade contact while hanging onto the puck) evaporates when the rulebook changes.

Also, Tampa the kings of being about culture, why the fuck to they want Marner?

The only cap fucked team i can see doing this is Vegas if they ship someone out to pay Marner or something and only caus Vegas.

I think it's almost a given Mitch signs with a desperate bottom feeder on an overpay, and probably a place with no pressure

If Marner signs here to a Mega contract, je should be prepared to get his own "Fire Nico" chant everytime he touches the puck in upcoming playoffs games.

I love you, and you are a valued member of the community.
It's nothing personal. I just don't want to hear a former leafs fan turned rapehawks fan tell us that the leafs made a huge blunder by not playing Alex Steeves. I'd rather hear Paul Maurice tell me how good the leafs are and that I should be proud.

I meant in terms of growth cycle. Young interesting teams on the cusp of being in the playoffs

Quality of life mate, quality of life. Most guys are looking for big markets, nice destinations, etc. I think the west coast would appeal to Mitch, Columbus not so much.
