After those stupid fights that started the game, my enthusiasm for the game itself went away. Frankly, I don't give a shit who wins this game or the tournament now.
Canadians have every right to boo the anthem of a country that is threatening them with crippling tariffs and annexation without any regard to their sovereignty. For the citizens of a country that is under thread like that, booing another country's national anthem is a legitimate avenue of showing resistance to the threatened takeover of their country. Good for them. If the roles were reversed, we would be doing the same exact thing.

I miss Makar, Canada has not had a great night breaking out of their own zone for obvious reasons. And so nice to see Slavin showing on the largest stage how damn solid of a shutdown defender he is!

Every time Crosby was trying to move in and shoot, Slavin was in the lane— Slavo was flawless last night and a joy to watch.
Jarvis was such a gritty nuisance on that Canadian power play.
As far as Canadians booing— it’s an international stage for both hockey and politics. Wish they hadn’t booed the national anthem, but when you’re in the gun sight, you’re entitled. I remind my Canadian family that Trump has done something for them he hasn’t done here- unified a country. I also remind them that 75 million Americans voted against Trump.

Theyll boo in Boston too. I found it classless myself and took it on the chin from posters but I still think it's classless.
Canada got goalied. Binnington with two muffins.
Take notice of the red. Hellebuyck was great. Reminded me of when Canada was winning against the US because Price was in net.

That’s my takeaway too, it was in poor taste the booing but it will be worse in Boston. The fever pitch first period was great but the other two periods were certainly not the super fast end to end hockey that makes it more fun. Let’s hope Thursday brings round two!

I hate the crowd booing any team's national anthem, but everyone's upset these days, so I agree the booing will continue in Boston. As for the game, I thought the 1st period was about as fast, hard-hitting and exciting as I've seen - it had a real playoff game atmosphere. And how about all the love the commentators were giving Slavin? It's nice to see them recognizing the value of a true defensive defenseman.
