4 Nations Thread

Well, Finland salvaged some dignity in the third, but woof ... not a great game from them. Lankinen kind of sucked, too many dumb turnovers in the worst possible places on the ice, too little sharp finishing when they did carve out chances. Just kind of the opposite of the way Finland maps out a game, really. Good on Canada for moving past that loss to the US. They came out hot and hung on.

Weird game last night. The US was short handed but still managed the bulk of the quality chances. If you look at the stats sites, the implication is that they got goalied, but I didn't think Ersson was all that great despite racking up 3 goals saved above expected. The US just lacked starch or urgency or something. Still, the health concerns going forward are a much bigger deal that unwrapping that enigma. McAvoy has some sort of infection on top of all the other dents and dings ... and it's not like we really know how bad any of the other issues are.

With McAvoy out, Mike Sullivan says Quinn Hughes is joining the team. But he can’t play unless there is another injury, according to Chairpersons of the Tournament Directorate Bill Daly and Rob Zepp (holy obscure Canes reference!). In related news, Jake Sanderson has cut himself off from civilization until game time.

Plenty of US options, but you need to find a guy not on vacation willing to get up to Boston in time to likely watch the game from a press box. John Carlson? Neal Pionk? Thomas Harley? Brady Skjei? Seth Jones?
