Around The League - 2016 Playoffs

We had .906 goaltending. A difference of maybe less than a dozen goals and almost meaningless in the large scheme of things.

Take Price's 12 games out, and we had like 902 or something.

Which was meaningful, cause league average goaltending for those 70 games and we make the playoffs.

We might have made the playoffs but we wouldn't be playing for long. The hitting, the overall physicality, and the pace of these playoff games are way more than the Habs could handle. Plekanec would be taking refuge in his turtleneck. Additionally these post-season games move far too quickly for a dullard like Therrien to be able to keep up. We'd be so overmatched it's not even funny. Sure Price could keep the scores from being embarrassing, but he wouldn't be able to steal 4 games out of every 7 played.

The Rangers, who averaged about 25 hits per game during the regular season, had well over 50 hits in game 2 against the Pens. Not a chance in hell that the Habs could withstand a physical onslaught like that. But feel free to keep telling us how we don't need McCarron's size and grit. Every year the refs put away their whistles once the playoffs start and the games turn into a Wild West show. You need players on the roster who are willing and able to rearrange an opponent's face from time to time like what Abdelkader did to Mike Blunden the other day.

I see Luongo soiled himself again.

I know of only one person who would be surprised by this.

Additionally Luongo was quoted as saying he was exhausted from having to play 3 games in 4 nights. I wonder what he would have done had he played in the 80's when the first round best-of-five series had them playing 4 games in 5 nights?

but had nothing to do with what he said

It has everything to do with what he said. He's just parroting the same narrative we got from MB and MT who seem to think that a healthy Price is the solution to every problem with this team. But as I pointed out even if he was healthy so what? The Habs would still be annihilated by teams with more size and grit. Price can't do everything.

Remember the first two series were like that back then.

From what it look like we may see:

West semi-final:
Dallas-St-Louis
Nashville-SJ

East semi final:
NYI-TB
Caps-Pens

I have a feeling winner of SJ and Preds(if it happens) go all the way..

I still think Chicago wins. Anaheim looks toast and LA's in trouble, but they're seemingly always in trouble. I still think Florida's going to win as well.

I have watched some Sharks games this year and they are a team tough to play against, their only weakness can be in goal but man they have one hell of team and leadership is no more an issue with Little Joe, Vlasic and couple other guys in room.
