Around the League: 2019-2020 Regular Season

WTF? Why is Gallant getting fired ? Vegas has a really short fuse. Yeah they lost 4 in a row but they are 3 points from first place in their division...

What Gerard Gallant accomplished in year 1 of that franchise may be the greatest coaching feat of all time. And even beyond, they have been one of the best teams in the NHL. He may have contributed to his own firing, as expectations went too high, too quick. I know coaches have a short shelf life, but this is ridiculous. Meanwhile, guys like DeBoer, who really hasn't done much, get yet another shot.....

Heard the managing partner of the VGK ownership group (Bill Foley) he expects to win this year - McPhee’s heads on the platter, rumors they are interested in Petry this might be a prime opportunity to maximize return. McPhee has a history of f*ck it trades...

McPhee isn't even the GM anymore. It's McCrimmon.

should be looking at them for sure

i would take Glass off their hands

or price for MAF swap

Imagine, a franchise team finally getting mediocre results as they should. Now they are acting like spoiled brats, firing a good coach.

A trade based around Petry for Las Vegas's 1st and Alex Tuch would make me a very, very happy camper.

You know, the shocking thing isn't as much that Las Vegas fired Gallant... It's that they replaced him with Peter DeBoer.

Peter DeBoer? What?

I could totally understand it if they had kicked Gallant out to get Peter Laviolette in. Laviolette is one of the best coaches in the league and while he has a short lifespan, you can never say he didn't get the most out of his teams while coaching. And with Las Vegas clearly in win now mode, he'd have been a great fit there.

You'd have to be insane . . . or grossly incompetent to make that trade if you're McPhee. I wouldn't even trade Tuch for Petry straight up if I'm him.

McPhee, McCrimmon and DeBoer go way back in the WHL / CHL - it’ll always be an old boys club.

Just like NCAA people tend to gravitate towards other NCAA types - especially in the US

I totally agree there. How did they figured that DeBoer is an upgrade is beyond me.
