Time to bend Chevy’s nose the other way with a Petry trade . I can see Peg overpaying this deadline
I would love to find out what teams are offering up for a dman like Petry.
He doesnt want to live in Winnipeg. To this day, I don't understand that situation. The whole thing makes little to no sense to me on either side.
It’s well know he’s a Minny boy who enjoys the outdoors - boating, fishing, hunting in the summer and ice fishing in the winter. If anything Winter-pegs proximity to Minny is favorable which is why Jets have so many Minny playersHe doesnt want to live in Winnipeg.
Once you understand that, everything makes sense.
So he either wants to go to minny on sweetheart deal or he wants to go play in one of Arizona, Florida, Nevada or California teams with the perfect weather. It’s well know he’s a Minny boy who enjoys the outdoors - boating, fishing, hunting in the summer and ice fishing in the winter. That's the only reason to walk away from Winnipeg and his contract. He simply doesn't want to play there.
He’s simply not interested in training required to be a pro player. He’s made enough $ and enjoys the simple outdoor Minny life. Like Tim Thomas some players just don’t need all that much and have different drive. So he either wants to go to minny on sweetheart deal or he wants to go play in one of Arizona, Florida, Nevada or California teams with the perfect weather.

Trades may or may not work, depending on return and what teams think about him trying to force one. This entire situation is a joke
Was he hurt in the summer and never told the team and now Peg is held hostage and Chevy couldn't do anything til his grievance was dealt with
If he doesn't want to be to there fine ask for a trade and move on
There would of been plenty of suitors for his services with 1 year left on his deal.
Plenty of shit that we don't know about behind the scenes
How much do you want to bet hes back in the NHL, not in Winnipeg within 12 months? He’s simply not interested in training required to be a pro player. He’s made enough $ and enjoys the simple outdoor Minny life. Like Tim Thomas some players just don’t need all that much and have different drive.

Signing a contract as a free agent is much easier, and he has complete control.
Like I said, trades limit where he can go. Lets say he want to go to Tampa, Tampa says sure, but we will only give up a 7th round pick to take on that salary. Why lose a years salary during this dispute ?
Plenty of teams that could of absorbed his 1 year cap hit and he gets paid
Peg could of got back a pick or even a roster player for this year

Winnipeg obviously says no to that.
Instead they mutually go their seperate ways, he approaches Tampa, they sign him, simple.
He is rich, rich enough to say **** that, I'm not playing in Winnipeg, screw the money.
This boils down to the man not wanting to play in Winnipeg, whether that be for the weather or a personal grudge, but once you boil it down to him refusing to play for them/live there everything about the situation makes perfect sense.
Some things matter more than money.
Of course Peg could have said that. Peg could have said a bunch of things.Sure , but Peg could of told TB ..... your capped out
We eat 2/3 and you give us a pick and prospect and gun for your cup
Peg was held hostage all year ..... its a fcken joke Altair
They can sign him in the summer , total BS

Big Buff cut peg out of the equation, and I'm not going to fault the man for that. Peg could have bought him out too if they really cared to not be held hostage.
In this league teams hold young players hostage until their mid to late twenties, and nobody has an issue with it. Mitch Marner had zero leverage versus the leafs and we all knew that he had to sign eventually or just not play. And everyone was okay with that.
So I don't really care if players who have served their dues decide that they just aren't going to play where they don't want to play. If the team is held hostage, buy out the player or suspend them, but don't play the victim.
