Leafs are now Dubas’ team....he’s the next to go if the ship isn’t righted.
Let’s see how much Leafs dirt I can get access to now...I work with his cousin
MB has to find a way to fleece Dubas - IMO high probability “save my a*s” desperation will set it
I suspect this will be the analytics end game for the NHL, and will be heavily monitored by the other 30-teams.
It’ll either pave the way for a new generation of analytics friendly GMs or banish them to the netherworld.
Will be interesting to watch play out...
Gord Miller said it best this afternoon, the mistake Dubas made was signing Tavares. They had the 3rd best offense in the NHL, they had good depth and had capsoace to address their real weaknesses on D.
plus, that contract set the bar for the better star players on the team.
Analytics is just a tool among others. Ignoring them completely is just as useful as using them exclusively.
Some teams might have over-indexed on it while others are doing the opposite.
The most adorable thing on right now is Mike Commodore's petty rant about Mike Babcock.
Mike Babcock will be remember as one of the (if not the) best coaches of this era. Opened the door to coaches getting big contracts with his $50M deal. When his time is done, he'll be in the HHOF. His name will be mentioned for decades to come.
Mike Commodore will be remembered as a depth NHLer who had a big ginger afro and for hating Mike Babcock.
Good job, Mike Commodore. You really showed him!
I should’ve been more specific - it’s the over indexation Waz referred to that’ll be closely watched IMO. Dubas’ version of team building vs variations of traditional methodsYeah, no, that's not happening. Analytics aren't going anywhere, regardless of what happens in Toronto.

We’ll see how new school vs old school plays itself out.Dubas forgot the give a shit meter ingredient
Miller has been repeating this since the day Tavares signed. The big argument against his views and what he conviently leaves out is guys like Bozak and JVR were UFAs and got big pay increases the same summer Tavares signed. JVR and Bozak combined make 12.5 million. Would you honestly take them at that hit over Tavares? I know I would not. JVR is ridiculously one-dimensional and getting older and so slow. Leafs never had any interest in keeping JVR. They tried to trade him.Gord Miller said it best this afternoon, the mistake Dubas made was signing Tavares. Neither do coaches that play their team in the wrong system.Spread sheets unfortunately don’t win hockey games
