guaranteed that women who accused bob murray of hitting her with a chair was telling the truth and everyone in that pressbox just covered for him.
I know you're talking about pro hockey and that's fine but the culture runs deep into all levels of hockey. As an 8-10 year old I took nonstop verbal abuse/berating from coaches because I didn't throw enough body checks. I was tall and more into the skill part of the game and didn't really care about throwing my body around. They were really mad because I was a particular height and didn't try to murder people enough.Physical assault is one thing but if we're going to fire coaches because they hurt a player's feelings then I have officially lost the will to live. If you as a player can't function because your coach chewed you out then you have chosen the wrong career and you will amount to nothing as a player. There's no such thing as a safe space in the real world. Reality doesn't give a shit about your feelings. A pro athlete, if he wants to keep earning a paycheck, needs to maintain a high level of performance. If he can't handle pressure or criticism, if he's going to assume the fetal position every time his coach yells at him, then he's too fragile to be in pro sports.
I don't know what Murray did exactly, but unless he was going above and beyond to terrorize his players then I don't understand what this is about. I hope for the sake of all other coaches that this investigation is about more than name calling or yelling.
Hey if I can't choke out the occasional employee what kind of men are we even raising? Why is coaching or professional sports different than any other profession or workplace regarding verbal abuse?

because they all have CTE and painkilllers? Why is coaching or professional sports different than any other profession or workplace regarding verbal abuse?
Had a pretty similar experience around the same age. Imagine a grown man screaming profanities while he bag skates a bunch of 8-10 year old kids. I was constantly terrified and felt sick to my stomach before every practice or game. I look back now and think how was that even allowed?I know you're talking about pro hockey and that's fine but the culture runs deep into all levels of hockey. But being emasculated and verbally tortured in front of my teammates for 4-5 days a week back then was way worse and harder on me than the physical abuse they put me through. That wasn't very fun either (and it happened for the same reasons) but the other stuff hit harder. I just wanted to play hockey and I wanted it to be fun. It wasn't really. But I did it anyway because I felt like I had to.
ya - i quit hockey in pee wee because of coachesI know you're talking about pro hockey and that's fine but the culture runs deep into all levels of hockey. I didn't even talk about the abuse I took when I was 5. Coach was a cop and a neighbor of mine but an absolute psychopath to a bunch of fucking 5 year olds. He actually got banned from coaching eventually shockingly. Needless to say he's in jail now for murdering another neighbor of mine (it was his mistress). So that's cool.Had a pretty similar experience around the same age. Imagine a grown man screaming profanities while he bag skates a bunch of 8-10 year old kids. To those who desperately call for hockey people to show more personality... No. You don't want that. Let them continue to be robots.
I mean as long as they get pucks deep nothing else really matters.don't worry....hockey players will continue to exhibit no personality. lack of personality is considered a strength in Canada, Finland and most other hockey producing nations
You better be giving 110%I mean as long as they get pucks deep nothing else really matters.
And I have no problem with that. As I said, toxic masculinity becomes a problem when it leaves the ice, seeps into other areas and morphs into things like sexual abuse, physical assault etc. These are two entirely fucking different things though. No one wants to get rid of masculinity or toughness.
They want to get rid of the part where sex abuse, physical assault by coaches on players, forcing rookies to get naked and assaulting them/hazing them is accepted as normal.
