Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

does anyone at Hockey Canada know that you are supposed to get insurance for potential liabilities?
I don't think there's any insurance for intentional torts and crimes...?

Like, if I'm really into murdering, I don't think there's a policy I can get that can cover potential liabilities.

I believe intentional acts are in the policy exclusions, but can't be sure because no human can be asked to read them.

But Hockey Canada isn't actually committing the crimes. Pretty sure organizations get insurance for stuff like this. It's more likely that no insurance company would want to touch it or the premiums would be outrageous because, you know, hockey bros.

I thought we were talking about the individuals, but yeah, Hockey Canada would have insurance, and rates would probably be sky high (maybe not a concern for them), but I'm guessing with each incident (many of which probably never saw the light of day in the press over the years), it either got more and more prohibitively costly, or the policies got cancelled altogether by the insurers.

Haha, see, when you post while on a call, you come up with new terms like prohibitively costly, instead of going with the stale cost prohibitive.

Or they never reported them so the insurer was unaware and they got cheaper rates

I mean, yeah, though slapping a Penguins logo beside the career point totals for Trottier, Coffey, Recchi & Francis is a bit disingenuous.

Those first three guys only stopped for a brief cup of coffee with the Pens, and Francis played 2/3’s of his career with the Hartfolina Whallicanes.
True...ish. But my main memories of those guys are as Pens. (Not Trottier, I don't think I saw him play).

Except Recchi. I was actually shocked to see where he sits all time. But I think of Recchi as a Flyer mostly. Francis was a Whaler for a long time, but really had his glory years and rise to fame with the Pens.

You're not wrong...

But we count Dougie as ours.

True. And Francis probably falls into that same category, of those four. The most famous portion of their careers happened in Toronto & Pittsburgh respectively, even if it was a minority of their careers.

Though obviously that’s not at all the case for Trottier, Recchi or Coffey in Pittsburgh.
