Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

but I do think he had an issue of being a little too cocky early on. Don't think that's necessarily uncommon from kids who are top ten picks tho.

Yeah, this is almost never a problem when it's a white kid. Remember pre draft when the hockey world was jerking off to Laine claiming he was going to score 40-50 a year more or less in his sleep?

Laine "oozes confidence". All the signs of being a bit of a one dimensional selfish dick were there. No one cared.

I think the one legitimate criticism of early career Kadri is that he didn't take his conditioning seriously. That can be said of a shit ton of 18-21 yr olds just trying to break into the league though. The organization decided to publicly shame him and give him shitty physical training goals to reach. This is what I'm saying when I talk about being a clown show organization. When you draft an 18 yr old, you're agreeing to develop the person as much as the player. We just didn't commit to that every bit as much as he didn't commit to strict off summer training. We're supposed to be the professional hockey development org though, show the kid the way.

PS: Bozak is racist

I don't know if I'd go that far (unless if you've heard shit I haven't), but it was well known that Bozak didn't like that Kadri was considered the heir apparent for the #1 centre spot here during peak Bozie-Phil bromance days.

Yeah he just hated Kadri a lot. He was one of those that made a lot of those anti Kadri comments when my friend golfed with him. This was in the very very early days of Naz. So I'm going with racism. Plus he's a Trump lover from Saskatchewan.. of course he's a piece of shit.

if a prospect needs help and guidance it means he's a weak beta that will never be good.

tough love is the only way to develop good players.

cause he was brown and muslim? other than that, not sure what 'problems' you're alluding to.

the organization made a 'problem' out of his self-confidence, and tried to destroy it.

the organization made a 'problem' out of his fitness, and put him on an idiotic program to gain useless muscle mass that slowed him down.

the organization made a 'problem' out of his ability by fucking yoyoing him non-stop back and forth.

what problems can we attribute to Naz himself?

I guess nothing, if we're pulling the race card.

Race made him late for practice and get suspended.

Race got him suspended in the playoffs 3 times.

The refs don't like it when you are good at fooling them and drawing calls. you guys remember that period in his Leaf days?

in that case you get no calls once you're on their shit list. white, black, or green.

I'm not trying to argue against the existence of racism in the NHL. maybe now on his 3rd team and a little older he's wised up. but he was a dumb undisciplined talented dickhead so far. no matter what colour he is.

I don’t care about anything negative concerning his tenure here, other than the suspensions which were absolutely killer and beyond comprehension.

I haven't seen Bunting do anything selfish so far. where has he been undisciplined? where did he put himself ahead of his team in a critical situation? plus we're talking a tiny sample size anyway.

as for Brad Marchand, yes he's a scumbag, but he also unfortunately happens to be one of the league's very top players as well. different rules.

but whatever, obviously I know better than to argue this particular point further here. hockey is very white and racist, anybody knows that. I don't happen to think that's the case with Kadri specifically though.

This may be the dumbest Mensa Ice revisionist history argument yet. Everyone else is at fault and retroactively deemed racist and/or incompetent, and the only person absolved of any responsibility is the actual player himself.

And yet, the elite talent "underachiver" on a disaster development club (despite actually playing at an elite level in his first full try with the Leafs) went on to an elite development club and became the elite player he always could have been.

Correct

Racist

I’ll definitely die on the hill that neither of Kadri’s playoff suspensions as a Leaf were deserved.

What Parros’s specific motivations were—racism, anti-Leaf bias, pro-Bruin bias or personal antipathy towards Kadri—I can’t claim to know for sure. But I believe something of that sort was going on.

And of course that doesn’t absolve Kadri of all criticism. After the first suspension especially, he should have known not to give Parros any plausible excuse to drop the hammer on him.
