I know this won't happen, but I would love to see the leafs give the boot to Malhotra or whoever is in charge of the PP this year and see if Brucey Baby would love to come in as an assistant and focus on the PP.
I know it would be such a kick in the teeth to Keefe, but maybe it keeps him in check a bit. And should the shit really hit the fan, then Brucey is right there.

I bet Boudreau would totally buy into that... he loves his hometown leafs.

If Bruce thought he could have the Leafs job, he’d quit to take it.
 
I'm talking about assistant though... maybe the leafs should think outside the box and make themselves the first team to ever have co-coaches. Why not. ;)

I know. But he’s very much on the record about being a huge Leafs fan. I recall some HNIC or NHL network piece where they followed him around when he was coaching against Toronto, and talking about how even his mom is still a huge fan and cheers for the Leafs to beat him or something like that.

That's a scary early return for TBL after losing their top matchup Dman for nothing.

NYI is interesting - the new coach seems to have decided to go all out offense. We'll see if the personnel can handle that.

EDM was already bad defensively, of course, but no surprise they look even worse now that their main matchup guy Keith is gone for nothing, even if he wasn't good in that role anymore that at least sheltered the rest of the D from having to take those matchups.

It's funny with EDM - literally the only change of significance for them this offseason was losing their top matchup D without replacing him, and yet all we heard was love.
