Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

EDM was already bad defensively, of course, but no surprise they look even worse now that their main matchup guy Keith is gone for nothing, even if he wasn't good in that role anymore that at least sheltered the rest of the D from having to take those matchups.

It's funny with EDM - literally the only change of significance for them this offseason was losing their top matchup D without replacing him, and yet all we heard was love.

When looking at our 4th line usage I notices that Tyson Barrie is top 5 in dman dzone starts and dzone faceoffs. Tyson Barrie is their shut down D.

So who were all the significant goalies that moved around this summer? is this the whole list?

VGK Hill (26): 2gms, .934sv%, -0.58dfsv%, -0.43gsax
BUF Comrie (27): 3gms, .930sv%, +1.61dfsv%, +2.70gsax
TOR Samsonov (25): 3gms, .927sv%, +1.60dfsv%, +2.16gsax
DET Husso (27): 2gms, .923sv%, +0.83dfsv%, +0.69gsax
WSH Kuemper (32): 4gms, .902sv%, -0.64dfsv%, -1.11gsax
COL Georgiev (26): 3gms, .893sv%, -1.59dfsv%, -1.76gsax
CHI Mrazek (30): 2gms, .885sv%, -3.04dfsv%, -2.54gsax
EDM Campbell (31): 3gms, .874sv%, -3.04dfsv%, -3.54gsax
SEA Jones (33): 3gms, .873sv%, -2.41dsv%, -2.68gsax
TOR Murray (28): 1gms, .826sv%, -4.28dfsv%, -1.40gsax
MIN Fleury (38): 3gms, .813sv%, -5.07dfsv%, -5.71gsax

Fleury unsurprisingly would have been a disaster.

Kahkonen is one worth following as well. Wild chose Fleury over him essentially. Both have been horrendous in their combined 5 games.

only one softy so far, including preseason.
Also, every goalie gives up softies.

It's the number of them, and the timing of them, that matter.

So far, he doesn't really seem susceptible to it. He covers the bottom of the net exceptionally well. Like, really, really well. I see his glove hand being his weakness a bit, and the Caps were trying all game to take advantage of it, so it must be a thing. But he's big, calm, and poised in net.

He's going to be the breakout story for us this year, which will create drama in the offseason with him being a free agent and Murray being under contract.

The fan base is trying to convince themselves its an adjustment period.

Of course all concers will disappear when he goes on his eventual heater

They're stuck. If they admit he's shit then they have to admit that the Leafs were right to let him go. That's not easy and I think we should be a little easier on them. They are in a tough spot.

There is nothing in the world harder for any non-leafs to admit than that the leafs actually have good defense.

there's no drama. if he's anything better than awful they'll re-sign him for whatever price his play dictates. murray won't effect that unless he comes back and plays amazing enough for the leafs not to think they need two goalies.

If he's really good and wants $5M for 3 years, let's say, then you're paying $10M to two goalies, and you gotta get rid of Murray, which could be difficult if he's injured for most of the year and/or bad.

they can afford to keep both for one year.

worst comes to worst they use the picks they got in the deal to send his contract back out.
