Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

Like anywhere else you get used to the area and it really isn't as sensationalised as the news reports.

That said I will be relocating. It's gotten so saturated down here. No elbow room anymore.

In fairness...you live in slightly better conditions than the average Floridian. A few less crazies per square mile than in Boca than in say, Jacksonville.

For sure. I'm not knocking the weather, necessarily. It's just grossly uncomfortable for me personally in most of the state. Heat and humidity is living hell for me, especially when combined with the blistering AC indoors that literally hurts my bones. I get that battling that humidity requires a lot of AC but fuck me, slow down with that shit.

Yeah, you may want to avoid where I'm going from like mid July to mid October.

Fwiw, the wettest rainfall month of a normal year in Toronto is like 80mm

Yeah that's a hard no for me. Give me nice crisp, dry 15-20 degree weather and I'm happy. No warmer. I can do cooler just fine tho, at least until our winters come. 2-3 months are definitely shit. But I think that's par for the course in most locations around the world.

Don't have to shovel rain.

Even in the worst bits of the summer there (which I've experienced a few times, I know what I'm signing up for), the night times are fucking outstanding. Low 20's, humidity fucks off. Also, because it's fairly close to the equator, sunset is early enough that even people with the body clock of a 70 yr old man like yours can still get out and enjoy something resembling nightlife comfortably during even the worst of the stinky hot summer.

Yeah, you can always visit friends and family in summer when Canada is actually enjoyable.

Unless you want to ski.

I toyed with moving up North because that's where my kid wants to go to college but sanity prevailed. Thinking of going over to the Sarasota area. It's more chill on the west coast, kinda like it was here 25 years ago.

That's the plan. Instead of escaping winter to the tropics, escape the stinky hot middle of summer to Canada & Europe.
That's the best way and what I did for years. Sometimes life gets in the way and you can't go every year but point remains.

Plus I always enjoyed the exchange rate bonus doing it this way.

White Christmas (holidays) is nice though. Just be smart about traveling.

My son in Illinois is getting slammed right now. Just snow though. Some wind.
I just dropped mrs W at the airport, destination Ottawa. Hopefully she lands before the storm but it’s going to be tight...
