Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

Disagree. That’s worse if the player sucks.

Yeah, Price still being in and out of the lineup and providing .900ish goaltending while eating up $10.5M in cap space for the next four years is infinitely worse than him just being gone for good and that cap space being freed up.

Not even sure how this is an argument.

Without Prices ltir the Habs wouldn't have had the space to take on Monahan and get a first in doing so.

Can't maneuver like that when they're sucking in the lineup.

There's no need to move Price. Most or all of his contract is likely covered by insurance and his cap hit only really matters to the summer cap. It places some limitations on how the Habs can manage the rest of their cap situation, but not enough to make it worth giving up assets to trade it off.

It's mostly a nothingburger, the odd gun nut public statement notwithstanding

What it does is allow the richer teams to use their might. They put more into the league in revenues, ltir allows them more creativity and use of their war chests.

Tragedy averted over in Edmonton as they just beat the mighty (checking over the notes, give me a sec, forgot my glasses, ahh there we are...)

Ducks.

Kane possibly coming back towards the end of Jan may just give them enough of a boost to slide more chips in.

We've seen these skate blade injuries before and the player never comes back anything resembling 100%. Fit to play, but with their hands surgically removed. For a guy like Kane who makes his money with his hands and shot, it will be next year at some point before he's really right imo.

even at his best Kane is only adding more offence not addressing the team's real issues. pretty sure I read somewhere he's one of the worst defensive forwards in hockey.

With functional goaltending, healthy Edmonton could outscore their problems pretty consistently until they get a round or two deep into the playoffs in the west and start running into better teams.

Still not a particularly good team, or a significant threat for a title, but better than where they are.

yeah I have to echo this sentiment. he may be back in the lineup, but doubt he is back to full strength anytime this season
