The value on Anderson depends on how much montreal is willing to retain:

Full 5.5 cap hit and it would probably be a minimum return with a shorter term bad deal coming back

1M retention and an offsetting deal and a mid round pick

2M+ and your probably giving up a couple mid round picks and a prospect. Could see someone going 2024 2nd, 2023 3rd and a prospect for Anderson at 3.5M

If Anderson was a FA this summer at 29 with a 20+ goal pace the last 3 season and the rep as a power forward he would be getting offers of 4+ mil for 4+ years.

As for the return Montreal might get for Anderson—I obviously think he has negative trade value.

But at the same time, no one ever went broke betting on the stupidity of NHL GM’s.
