But in Murray’s case you’d have to cough up some kind of valuable asset to get someone to take on his full 4.8M cap hit and $6M in salary he’s owed.

Minor note—Ottawa’s still picking up 25% of that. So for any team that’d be taking him from us, that salary would be $6M instead of $8M.

Still not cheap, obviously. And that’s the same amount Patty Marleau was making when we had to cough up a 1st rounder to rid ourselves of his cap hit.

It’s probably happening. Dubas has already done it twice and there is no way the go into next season with Murray on the books.

Yeah the Murray trade never made any sense. Especially for the return. Ottawa offered Buffalo a trade down from a top 10 pick to take the contract, and we got a 3rd?

They just got desperate after missing out on everyone else.

Mrazek was owed $8.6m real money with 2yrs of $3.8 caphit, and he was both injured and legit terrible while Murray is injured and just ok.

Mrazek cost us like 10 spots in the draft.
