So here's a funny....
I'm pretty sure Woll will not be waiver exempt next year. So if we want to keep him, we're going to have to pencil him in as our backup next season.
Rolling the dice on Samsonov-Woll next season could be real real gud, or uhhh...not.
But at least it's cheap.

You worry too much. Having two vets making 3x their total could be waaaaaay worse.

Might be able to get one of the Russians over, can't see both
Sammy-Woll
Hildeby-Petruzz (under contract for next season and was good enough in the AHL this season to give another look)
are probably our NHL-AHL setup next year. Might get one of the Ruskies over to Newfoundland.

I really don't know what they'll be able to do with Murray. That's the only issue in creating the Sammy-Woll tandem.

Florida clinches with PIT's loss. Though the Isles could still pass them for 7th. Florida actually has to win in regulation to make sure Isles don't pass them. Pens aren't out yet tho.

I'm calling my shot, he's going to get LTIR'd. He's probably cooked.
He's also a decent buyout candidate. So this would set up a scenario where Glasses puts two choices in front of him. Collect his 8 millie on LTIR and get his body right, also with the chance of getting into games in the 2nd half. Or get bought out and lose a decent chunk of that 8 million, but be a free agent.
Considering how cheap Sammy-Woll would be the next few seasons (4.5-5 million total), eating a Murray buyout is doable.
Also, trading him with 50% retention is a possibility for a team with deep pockets that doesn't give a fuck about the dollar cost and is cool with a 2 million dollar backup with a soft head.

I mentioned this all the other day. I hate buyouts generally, and while it wouldn't be terrible next year, it would be painful to see that shit cap hit two years from now. They have to find a way to either unload him for cheap or LTIR him for a year, and your ultimatum sounds good to me, if they have the balls (Lou would, we know that).
