Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

Both ROR and Duchene.

Have Tavares/ROR/Duchene split 2nd and 3rd line C duties?
Sign Willy and have him play left wing and get the young guns on line 1 Willy Matthews Marner
Then the old vets line of JT ROR Duchene

Maybe ROR doesn't get offered much and you can get him at 5.5 Duch at 3 and Willy gets a 9. Matthews 5 years 13.34

Would probably go:
Kneis - matthews marner
Jarnfoot - tavares - duchene (extreme ozone start)
Robertson - ROR - Willy (probably more your 2nd line)

I disagree ;) I like my veteran slow line, my young guns.. and then I have a bottom six with some young guys and if they need a different centre.. use ROR JT orDuch.

Willy Matthews Marner
JT ROR Duchene
Knies Acciari Brown
Steeves/Laff Kampf Holmberg

So yes, 50% retention would have been a better route.
Would have saved them $7,333,336 total over 3 seasons.

My only guess is that they couldn't find a taker, or they have a plan for that 3rd salary retention spot (Johansen/Ekholm).

I still find it funny that the older-than-leafs Oilers are going to run back the exact same team after a 2nd round loss and nobody says boo.

Didn't Bear struggle with covid? Hasn't been the same since his infection. He was realgud for a bit before.

EDIT: did some digging and can confirm. Looks like he's got long covid. No thanks, I'll pass.

Bear is out with shoulder surgery. Chunk of next season.

I guess he’d be a buy low candidate.

I think we def need another top 4 guy.

I would narrow that down to a top 3 guy. i.e. a guy who can at least complement a top pair or lead a 2nd pair.

McCabe/Lilly are quality #4s, at least, and Gio was most of the year too. Timmins has that kind of upside also.
