Maybe "flop" is harsh but i'm not sure his points production really sets himself apart on that D, and his usage looks to be the softest in the top-4.

It's two teams now who seem to have been better without him taking a big role. And two teams now where he's been part of some of the worst defense in hockey. And I'm guessing his personality isn't the greatest either if he's getting dumped so quickly.

Definitely still a chance that it's bad teams bringing him down but I dunno how much I want to give up for him tbh.

the Sens and Coyotes are such crap organizations though that it's tough to write off a guy like Chychrun for having to suffer through their incompetency.

but he could also be crap, tough to say.

maybe we should try to acquire Zub... his numbers are surprisingly impressive. and he's a RHD too...

Chychrun does have good relative numbers. and the Sens are generally a tire fire defensively.

and hey, maybe our locker room needs more assholes.

It should also be noted that DJ Smith is stupid and had him carrying their worst D. His most common partners this year are Bernard-Docker and Hamonic.

Chychrun w/ Docker: 263:12, 38.9% xGF
Chychrun w/ Hamonic: 210:58, 46.39%
Chychrun w/o: 299:16 55.4%

Great player, but his durability is my issue with him. He’s injury prone. Never even hit 70 games. Only 9 playoff games in his career.

Could pay a lot for the promise of something great, and get very little.

I don't think he'll stay. He can get all of the money from a handful of other rich teams who'd pay through the nose on a 7 year deal.

Just leaving Edmonton warrants taking a discount.

And once he's gone, the next season will see absolute chaos with McDavid pouting more than ever before and the drama surrounding whether the Oilers will deal him at the deadline or risk losing the best player in the world for nothing. It will be a gong show. And a nervous one for any Leaf fan hoping he comes here, because any other team that actually trades for him will almost certainly extend him or won't bother to pay the cost of acquisition.

For us, the best result is if McDavid plays the Tavares game of "thinking about it" until the end of the contract.
