Best idea I’ve seen here is that anyone who gets in a fight should be sent to concussion protocol immediately (I think that was you, worm.)

Guys get clipped in the head on a flyby and collapse to the ice because 1) it probably really hurts; and 2) it might draw a major penalty. Same guys get punched hard in the face 5 times and do everything they can to skate off the ice like champions so they don’t seem weak.
 
Ya it's not a bad idea but the instigator has to play a role. Otherwise I'm getting some plug to goad a snap show like MacKinnon into a fight to get him into concussion protocol.
 
Sheesh. There’s no way $5m per is making him feel non-suicidal. From Leafs starter, to big news UFA signing, to this in just a couple of years.
 
Oh, his mental health is in the toilet, no doubt. I legitimately wanted dude to get his bag though. Seems like a nice guy that just isn't cut out for the pressure. Being broke with shit mental health is way, way, way worse than 30 million in career earnings with shit mental health. Just stay on your therapy, and eventually this will be over and you'll be a young multi millionaire with the ability to do whatever makes you happy for the rest of your life.

Yeah for sure. My reaction was to the goal allowed, not to what you said. Jack already had some decent coin stored, not too much, but decent. So getting that bag can’t be worth this. The nightly anguish over having to play against nobodies and lack the mental fortitude to find his game must be tough to endure.

I went over it last year and can't be bothered to do it again, but he spent most of his career pre Toronto in the AHL making the AHL scale contracts.
Before 18-19 his career earnings over 7 seasons was just under 700K pre tax, so maybe 500K after. The next 4 seasons combined was a combined 4.6 million (pre tax) in two high tax jurisdictions, so probably 2.5ish after....which is a lot of money to most people and he probably put some of it away but unless you're a bit of a minimalist, it's not enough coin to last the rest of your life at that age.

Getting the bag was definitely worth this and he'll probably have a redemption arc before this is said and done anyway, whether in Edmonton or elsewhere after they dump his contract.
