Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

Well, we know LAK is on the list cause they tried to deal for them and he wouldn't approve.

It's important to note that 15 teams on his NMC doesn't necessarily mean he won't waive to go to one of those 15 teams, even if we want to theory craft on which teams are on it. Usually players with a NMC are looking to avoid shit cities, or shit professional situations. Even if he had put all of the Canadian teams on it for whatever reason, most goalies a year away from UFA aren't going to turn down a 100+ point playoff team that doesn't have an incumbent starter in a major media market that can raise the hell of your profile if you play well.

If Toronto can get Jack Campbell paid, it can get Linus Ullmark paid.

NMC means leverage, almost always nothing more.

It can mean having the security of knowing you will never be moved to one of the big 4 wastelands against your will, but it mostly means if your current team wants you moved, you not only have some say of where you go, but also, some leverage in how/when you get your extension.

Guys waive to go to teams on their lists ALL the time.

In Baseball, it's traditional to put all contenders on your NTL because, yanno, the Pirates while a shithole, aren't likely to be adding anytime soon

especially since Ullmark is looking at a nice contract extension, so it’s in his interest to explore all options.

he’s not getting traded as much as looking for a new contract one off season earlier than expected

What are the odds that the Bruins trade Ullmark.to a division rival? Slim to none or just plain none?

They did it with Raycroft, but he was coming off a shit season and they were getting a blue chip goalie prospect. I’m sure if we give them Marner, they’ll gladly hand him over, so there’s always a chance.

Eh, they need the cap space and the lineup for him might not be that long considering the contact status. It either has to be somewhere willing to throw him an extension, or somewhere he figues he can pump his value that needs a 5 million dollar goalie and he gets to re-jig his NTC on July 1.

Just looking at teams in need of goaltending but with the cap space for it Boston's option are basically us, Carolina, Philly maybe, Jersey, the Kings (on his no trade apparently, but might change for an off season move....might not).

Boston might not be in the position to spite us

Avs might work

Already have a goalie signed to something resembling money this year that they're stuck with and also already have their in house guy they're trying to develop. If they can find a taker for Georgiev elsewhere, maybe. But I can't see them spending 8.5 million on Ullmark-Georgiev and sending Annunen down as their #3.

I think the whole no dealing in division thing is overblown. It’s Linus Ullmark not Bobby Orr. If Boston gets the best return from the Leafs they should do it it’s not like cockblocking them prevents them from getting a G elsewhere
