Cap hell. If they don't think Brannstrom is a top 4 guy they don't feel it's wise to pay him what they believe he'll get in arby. Nor do they have cap space for it. Same situation as Liljegren and the Leafs.

Coming off a major injury as well I think. I wouldn't give him more than a one year deal at a cap hit would could be completely removed if stuck in the minors. "Cheap" insurance/depth if he would sign such a deal.
