Trotz has gone quite literally in the opposite direction of how modern teams are built.
Modern teams are trying to get younger, not older. All of Nashville's top players are in their 30s or just about to turn 30. Not good.
Modern teams are trying to get players at under market value. All of Nashville's players are either paid at market value or just flatly overpaid. Not good.
Modern teams are trying to draft players & get them in the league relatively quickly to make-up for the higher salaries given to the top players. While this hasn't been a uniquely Barry Trotz problem, but Nashville's got shitty results at the draft recently and they just traded away Askarov because they abso-fucking-lutely needed to re-sign Jussi Saros.
Nashville's about to become the Midwest Sharks. A decade of purely, unadulterated shit. And it's going to fuck a whole fanbase because the NHL loves being fucking stupid.

Until like a week ago, Frenemy was only talking about how all the losing is great stuff, now they're going to get another great 1st round pick to add to their core.
