When you look at Leaf playoff starters in the Shanahan era, whether it was Fred, Jack or Samsonov, it’s not like their play took a nosedive in the playoffs. They all regularly handed out freshly-baked muffins throughout the regular season too.
This year is different though. Whether it translates to the playoffs or not remains to be seen, but Stolarz is on a completely different level than those guys. He’s been one of the better starters in the league all year.
His only caveat is the same as Joseph Woll’s—staying healthy. And not staying healthy is the only criticism you can make of Woll’s playoffs last year too. When he was in, he was good.
