An Ottawa/Toronto 1st round matchup is looking a lot more likely than it did a week ago, but it's not locked in yet. The only thing that's almost certain at this stage is that Ottawa can no longer climb out of a wild card spot into the top-3 in our division.

But with only three points separating the Sens/Habs and Leafs/Bolts and four games left for all those teams to play, there's still an opportunity for playoff matchups to shuffle around a fair bit. Even moreso with the Sens and Habs playing each other Friday night.

Kyle Dubas will head Canada's effort at next month's IIHF World Championship. Hockey Canada announced Thursday the Pittsburgh Penguins general manager will serve in the same capacity in Sweden and Denmark. Dubas was associate GM in 2024.

Don't be disingenuous. It's not that goalies let in stinkers. It's about the regularity at which they allow them which determines the good goalies from the mediocre ones. If you're consistently allowing 1 or 2 muffins per game you are, at best, a mediocre netminder.

But when you've allowed 2-3 to put your team in a hole then decide to make some better saves it doesn't really help much.

Also, define expected. It's a subjective stat.
