This is just yet another real estate scam where developers rip off the taxpayers to build an arena that will be a white elephant inside of 10 years.

But maybe when the franchise fails they can relocate it to Quebec like they should have done in the first fucking place.

And judging by the sluggish ticket sales, people in Winnipeg seem to have lost interest just like last time.

I always thought 32 teams was the right number but now I realize that since the canadian teams mean so little to US tv contracts the NHL is actually still at a disadvantage even with having more total teams.

They probably want to get up closer to 36 teams tbh, as 6 of the canadian teams are so insignificant.

Isn't the Canadian broadcast deal worth the same per year as the American broadcast deal?

I mean, yeah, Toronto makes up the lion's share of that and Ottawa or Winnipeg isn't a lot of value add. But neither are Nashville or Columbus to the US broadcast deal. Adding more Nashville's or Columbii isn't going to do much. Add a Houston though, and yeah that has a chance to make a real dent.
