I don't think the prices paid so far are that crazy. These are good players.
Walman is a 2/3 with term and a cheap contract. Nelson is a 1C.
Rielly Smith got a "1st round prospect", but in reality he is 23 and not even a 40 point player in the AHL.
Jones 2/3 D, Miller 1C, Petterssen 2/3 D.
The Tampa trade is the only one that looks bad IMO. Its just the rumours for the players the Leafs seem to be after that are bad prices (Schenn, Laughton, Risto), but you could have traded those for a really good player too.

I mean I am all for trading the few assets they have for a big dick swinging opportunity. But to trade their only good assets for a guy that is at best a mediocre 3rd liner? Ehh. It's a seller's market. And in seller's market years, if you're gonna overpay, I much prefer they do it for a Rantanen and not a Laughton.

He's good 5v5 too. Played shutdown minutes this year and in Detroit with top numbers in all models. He just had a bad year last year.
