Pretty weird how this all played out though. Seemed like a multi-year extension was on the table for him last season, and he wouldn't sign it. Then his assistant GM quits out of the blue, and he gets fired shortly after.

This is speculation on both counts. DumbAngelo got into a fight with teammates as well just last year, was hated by everyone and catapulted out of the organization despite playing well on the ice. We have no idea how he's doing in the Carolina room, it's only been a couple of months. At least he didn't submit a fake vaccine card. I don't like the clown and had absolute zero interest in the off-season, but everyone deserves a 2nd chance. Problem with Kane is that he'll be looking for a 4th or 5th chance.

Us losing to the Habs did end up anchoring them to a shit coach, giving up 1st rounders for Dvorak, losing Kotka and adding a couple more shit contracts.

Those Petry and Gallagher extensions, coupled with the Price and Weber contracts, with no young elite players on the horizon, is a killer. Next guy to take the GM job may be doomed from the start and should require a 5+ year contract to dig them out of this hole.

Yep. They have big issues with those contracts. They are so big and so much term left.
