I want to laugh but thats basically a cheaper version of the JT deal for a guy who has been better the last 3 years than JT was the 3 years prior to us signing him.

You can laugh. Miller is turning 30 midway through the season, and his 7 year extension won't even kick in until the next season (so 8 more years).I want to laugh but thats basically a cheaper version of the JT deal for a guy who has been better the last 3 years than JT was the 3 years prior to us signing him.
Issue is his age and the term. Jt's ends at 34.I want to laugh but thats basically a cheaper version of the JT deal for a guy who has been better the last 3 years than JT was the 3 years prior to us signing him.
they also have a new starting goalie. who has never really successfully managed a starter's workload. don't forget that.Spector of course has written this same column every single year, but this year more voices are joining him. Amazing what one good playoffs series can do for homers. oilers barely squeaked past the worst team in the playoffs in round 1 and got demolished in round 3.

This offseason the biggest change is losing the guy they used as their top matchup dman.
correct me if I'm wrong, but is this not a contract that requires further development for it to be 'team-friendly'?So they're at about $32.5m locked in longterm for their Core 4 - Tkachuk, Stutzle, Norris, Chabot. That's 3 young forwards (22, 22, 20) who were in the 60-70pt pace range last year and a 25yr old dman in the 50pt range, who led their team to 26th place. I assume they're going to try and get Debrincat signed to a similar hit though he'll probably want more.
Still though that's pretty good for the Sens. Solid young core locked in longterm now.
They're really going to want some of these guys to take another big step forward though.
Honestly, biggest concern for Ottawa wasn't players, it was having an owner who would pay to keep them. Melnyk's daughters have common sense he did not. That was a waste of a perfectly good liver. So they're at about $32.5m locked in longterm for their Core 4 - Tkachuk, Stutzle, Norris, Chabot.
