That's where I am at a minimum with this. I see an argument for keeping the Nerd if he punts on Keefe and does a bit of a hard reset with the roster to get younger and faster. If we're going to build around high skill forwards, let's put a team around them that can play hockey with them while covering up some of their inadequacies. It's a testament to how shallow this forward group became that our only options for making adjustments to the top 6 was where we were shuffling Kerfoot and/or Jarnkrok into or out of it. Florida was able to slot guys like Nick fucking Cousins into their top 6 because he can skate and compliment skilled hockey players. Dude is a 4th liner, and not good unto himself, but is able to actually not trip over his dick well enough with the puck to not be an anchor on a line with one of the top 10 forwards in the world.

Could you imagine putting ZAR, Kampf, Lafferty with Matthews/Marner/Nylander? Even Kerfoot was usually useless when moved up the lineup.

Just a horseshit way of building a hockey team.

I suspect a lot of coaches in pro sports would rather “win their way” than simply win.

It’s a good trait to have when you’re developing kids in the minors… which is what Keefe should be doing
 
The unfortunate thing is Ras isn’t soft. He’s just small. He’s pretty physical. Post Muzz, and Pre Schenn he led the Leafs D in hits, and he was the only one throwing open ice hits.

McCabe to Sandin was a big trade down. But at least we got Lafferty out of it.

I don't know why the NHL is surprised, it's Arizona, they don't election well.
 
I mean, it is kinda more than a coincidence on that front too.

Maybe we keep running into the best fucking team earlier in the playoffs than we should.

Might be unfair to carry around the full weight of this first round loser tag.
 
And Verhaeghe, man...the guy who ousted us and is still scoring regularly in the postseason is a guy we fucking dumped with a hodgepodge of shit players for nothing. Meanwhile, we're paying $40M to four guys who combined to score the same as him in the series.
