Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

Are we swinging back around to Shane Wright being the play with the #1 pick after all?

I’ve been paying zero attention to the Habs so far this year, so I’m just going to take this moment to LOL at just learning the fact that Slafkovsky is scoring at a 7-goal/48-point pace through 24 games.

That said, even with his recent hot streak, Wright’s totals so far are looking pretty pathetic. And the only guy looking pretty decent out of the top-5 of that draft is Logan Cooley.

Simply put the wrong year to get the first pick

This is what is cruel about the NHL and rebuilding. It really comes down to timing and luck.
The Makar draft was odd, but Colorado 'Lost" as bad as one could (Dropping to 4th with the worst NHL record), then they "Win" it, because he went down to 4th. That put them over the top for a cup.

Yup , need a shit ton of luck

4. 5m?

Not cheap but not expensive.

Spent 6.5 m total.

They also spent a 1st rounder (and stuff if memory serves) trading for him.

That's not "cheap" goaltending the way I've have cheap described to me around here over the years
