Yup - That’s why my theory is even the best scouting directors have a 5-year half life of peak performance max before reverting to norm (league avg) - and that peak performance is mainly driven by recency bias of having knowledge of preteen/early teen scouting insider info of upcoming prospect pools and/or close connections to management / coaches at prospect levels before they change positions / move on.
Even Al Murray was outstanding when Stevie Y brought him in 2011-2015, now has reverted to norm over last 6-years.
There isn’t a single team in the NHL that drafts top talent out of nowhere (Point, Kucherov, Vasilevsky, Cirelli) over a period of 7, 8, 9 years+ unless they’ve been getting high picks consistently

It’s not an exact science but you can’t fuk up every year like us
We can’t even develop slugs , need to poach the UFA or waiver market to fill a roster
Take a look at our current roster , it’s beyond draft and develop ridiculous

In tonight's lineup, we had 4 players that were drafted by the organization. In comparison, the Sharks had ten players they drafted along with one player they signed as undrafted UFAs. And they haven't been all that good at drafting in the last few years.
Romanov, Lehkonen, Caufield combined for 2 total AHL games. Gallagher played 36 games + 1 rehab game last season.
Saying that other organizations draft bad too is true, but it's also utterly meaningless.
The way this organization has handled drafting and development since The Charlatan has been in power has been a complete failure. No ifs, ands or buts about it.

Fine. How about... Every single team in the NHL that played today?
With the exception of Seattle, for obvious reasons, every single one of them had more than we did. Some of the teams even had twice or greater the amount we had. Pittsburgh, with Crosby & Malkin injured, still had more players they drafted or signed as undrafted UFAs in their lineup than we did.
Other teams have had long successful competitive runs ...Sharks , Ducks , Pens, Hawks etc...
No team had this putrid draft and development shit show like us
