As Krusty said, Habs have a 4-5 week head start on the other tankers after Caufield announcement.

Habs need to make up 1-point per week to close the margin to 6-7 points w Hawks, Az, Ana. That provides enough time in the remaining 20GP to close the gap even further or pass them.

Assuming all goes as planned and Edmundson & Monahan are dealt at deadline (at a minimum), the D / roster will be further depleted.

Also Dach’s performance is nice & all, but he won’t be carrying the offense till seasons end, and Habs are being severely outshot & out chanced every game.

I agree the last 20 games are going to be very painful , bottom 5 is doable

If Dach emerges in the next 30 games as an actual 1a or 2 center, we can use our higher first rounder on a wing like Benson or Mychkov, rather than a consolation prize like Will Smith.
