Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

They killed Michkov's father. If I could find a way I'd take my mother and gtfo. Who gives a shit about under contract in a country that doesn't respect international borders. Fuck them. Split kid, teams with money will help you do it.
I think Michkov drops out of top-10 and very few if any Russians get drafted

I guess Columbus didn't get the memo. last night, just like Chicago two nights before. Both teams really screwed up, especially CBJ.
How Jarno still has a job as GM of that team is beyond me.

He's done everything in his power to make Columbus unintentionally tank. It's pretty incredible.

I would pick Michkov at 5 without even blinking. Wouldn't even be a difficult choice, either.

The problem becomes something we've been very familiar with over the last 20 years: We're an already small team picking a small player.

You can live with Caufield & Michkov, but then we have RHP as depth and Farrell is going to have a hard time making it. We need some size to go with the small skill.

Problem for Pittsburgh is, the damage is already done. They're stradled with those Malkin, Letang & Rust (Can you believe he's signed until 2028? Fucking Christ) contracts, they don't have much in terms of prospects/pîcks, Petry never really returned to form...

The next few years in Pittsburgh are going to be what every team dreads: Stuck in the middle. Not good enough to compete, not shitty enough to tank.

I think, if we get Michkov, Farrell is very movable. Maybe get a good LHD prospect for him.

We can address some through trade if needed. Lots can happen in the 3 years we wait for michkov.

The one prospect I have no solid take on. He seems meh to me but they love him.

Apart from Fantilli, the top end forward prospects are smallish or average in size.* So, apart from the elites, is this really a deep crop that translate their game to the NHL?

*Hence the Slafkovsky pick last year. They knew this…
