Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

I would love to pry Morrissey too. Unlikely sure but then I would be willing to pony up more for Dubois and Morrissey.

Anderson to NYR for their first, Florida and NYR firsts for them.

Morrissey is worth more than a mid first but Dubois less so adding a late first to it might appease the fans.

Ah to dream.
JM is a dream trade but is untouchable IMO in their retool

Yep. Winnipeg is a tough destination to sell to players.
They are like the Habs

If you draft and develop them , players will sign extensions

Nabbing the high end UFA`s is a problem but you work around it with good drafting and trades

There are very few difference makers ever available in UFA , so losing out is not a big deal

They built good teams over the years , and the NHL isnt the NBA or NFL for player movement

They are in the same boat as the Caps , Pens ...team hit the wall competitive wall

Big money due to Scheifle and Helly as they approach and PLD isnt coming back

Take your pick , smooth out the retool and move them or be in that dreaded middle for years to come

Home run deals to be had in the summer if bent nose is still employed
Jets had the saddest competitive window. They had one real good season, 114 points, made it to the semi finals, then nothing.

Its a tough business , your window might be limited and you need to be proactive before the cap/salary crunch hits you

Flames for example are fucked royally

But will the fans "accept" a rebuild? How many years do you expect them not to watch playoff hockey? Wasn't it better that the fans got to experience 2 more home playoff losses?
well their fans seemed to enjoy the experience. You paid to watch the Oilers who likely will not win it all, ergo you wasted your money.

Their fans enjoyed the experience when they showed up 2 hours before puck drop to whoop it up in the street outside the arena and to all scream "True North!" during the anthem. But once the games got going and the home team stunk out the joint, the only ones still enjoying themselves were the ones who were drunk off their asses. Real fans only care about winning.

As for the Oilers, I am not anything but a fairweather fan so I'm fine with going for the atmosphere. But them winning or losing doesn't really affect me. I want them to win to keep the party going but I don't really care if they win or not. The Oilers neither please nor offend me, unlike say, the Canucks, who I want to see lose unless they're playing the Leafs.

I have some thoughts about Dubois, which probably requires its own thread, but about the Jets...

Is anyone surprised that a team whose "leaders" are Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler quit again?

This shit's been happening for a while now.
