Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

Until Deadmonton becomes something more than a 3 player team, they're dead in the water.

The roster construction over there has been beyond laughable. Their hopes of winning start & end with, let's hope McDavid & Draisaitl outscore the other team!

They're like the Leafs. A very, very good assembly of high-end forwards, one good defenseman and whatever the fuck you call those players in net.
yep, that is what my son said last night, they only hope to outscore you as they cannot do anything in their own zone (and they also needed an out of the world power play to win games)

I don't remember if it was the second or third goal, but Las Vegas had two guys in front of the Deadmonton net with only Nurse there, and he's not covering either of them. Where was the other d-man? Who the hell knows, but he wasn't anywhere near being in position. Leon was closer to where the d-man should have been and he was kind of roving around, waiting to counter-attack.

Forwards wise that isn't really the case. The 4th liners had 10 goals or more. They have nuge, kane, and hyman (which are the quality of players the Habs have had at the top end of their forward pool).

On D they have nurse making double what he should. Ekholm is good but old. Bouchard is decent. Kulak on the bottom is okay. CC and Broberg and dehanais are bad.

Goaltending is bad and they have to hope Campbell rebounds.

Vegas is also a good team. Ahead of them in the standings and did some cap gymnastics to get the lineup in the playoffs. And have like 6 goalies better than the Oilers.

And all at 16 mil combined

Oilers are in better shape than Vegas , whose run is coming to an end soon

Vegas could end in a cup though

And I'd look to trade 100 pt nuge if someone is willing to pay.
They definitely need to upgrade on Nuge and he's never getting to 100 points again so the time to sell him is right now. I'd also move on from Kane simply because at some point you know he's going to do something stupid either on or off the ice that will make him untradeable.

Obviously the contract they'd love to get out of is the one for Nurse but just like the Leafs with Tavares they are well and truly stuck with that boat anchor.

The nurse deal is 2 mil overpaid but they are worse without him
