Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

Yeah like one dude with no actual source or insights. Why would anyone want a GM job when they can have a President job, with most of the same influence but none of the responsibilities.
Some people want the responsibility and like the “action” as they say.

As reported previously in the aftermath of the Leafs elimination, Shanahan and Dubas had been at odds for a while. On Friday, more details emerged on that front. Multiple sources close to the team said that Shanahan had blocked transactions that Dubas wanted to make at key points in the past several seasons, creating frustration in parts of the management group. Shanahan had also at times dictated certain moves he wanted made that Dubas didn’t agree with.

Can you name me one person that stepped down from a president job to take a GM job?
Lou Lamoriello comes to mind. And the Leafs can probably pay Gorton more than what Geoffrey is paying. But I'm not saying he's leaving. I was just wondering if it would interest him on some level.

Uncle Lou had been fried by new ownership group that assumed control of Devils - wasn’t a voluntary step down

After 28 years, including three Stanley Cup Championships, five Eastern Conference titles, and nine Atlantic Division Championships, the New Jersey Devils co-owners Josh Harris and David Blitzer announced today that Lou Lamoriello has made the decision to resign as the team’s President in order to pursue other opportunities

He resigned.

“He resigned” wink wink, after hedge fund boys came in and wanted someone new…
