After 28 years, including three Stanley Cup Championships, five Eastern Conference titles, and nine Atlantic Division Championships, the New Jersey Devils co-owners Josh Harris and David Blitzer announced today that Lou Lamoriello has made the decision to resign as the team’s President in order to pursue other opportunities
He resigned.
I doubt that Gorton would want to be the GM of a team where the team president is also a hockey guy, like the Leafs' structure. If it was just a business guy, maybe . . .
I wouldn't give permission to a division rival to interview for a lower positionit's a step down in terms of power....but $$ might swing the balance
Ok but Lou was also the Devils’ GM. He went from Devils GM to Leafs GM in about 2 months. Sal is not entirely wrong in that he was pushed aside by the Devils. That’s how we got Lou Lamoriello. Not that I think Gorton’s going anywhere.
“Pursue other opportunities” is standard corporate talk for “you’re fired but we’ll make you look good publicly”Ok but Lou was also the Devils’ GM. He went from Devils GM to Leafs GM in about 2 months. Sal is not entirely wrong in that he was pushed aside by the Devils.
They made him give up his GM duty after 28 years in that role and he resigned a month later. They wouldn’t/couldn’t fire him but it was clear that there was a need to move on.“Pursue other opportunities” is standard corporate talk for “you’re fired but we’ll make you look good publicly”
Yeah but now you're heading into the $$$ territory where it isn't as impactful in the decision making.it's a step down in terms of power....but $$ might swing the balance
I mean, he was the President. He hired Shero as GM and moved into a President’s role only.Ok but Lou was also the Devils’ GM. He went from Devils GM to Leafs GM in about 2 months. Sal is not entirely wrong in that he was pushed aside by the Devils.
Uncle Lou game up GM role in May and left Devils for Leafs a couple of months later - “pursuing other opportunities”, he was clearly pushed out by Josh Harris who also did the Shero hiringNo, he was the President. He hired Shero as GM and moved into a President’s role.
