Dont need another softie floaterI do wonder if Gauthier acquisition make Ana more amenable to trading Zegras?
Gauthier is a “little ball of hate” Verbeek type player, Zegras definitely isn’t to begin with

The Habs, even in the post-Bergevin era, do not negotiate with terrorists. You pull a power move like Gauthier and you are persona non grata in Habs land.Players like Gauthier, Fox and Lindros, who dictated where they would/wouldn't play, without ever having played a game in the NHL, are highly unlikeable.
I don't. Clearly they like Reinbacher, enough to not draft Michkov. And if Gauthier didn't want to play in Philly, I'm not sure I like the risk of him wanting to play in Montreal long term.Maybe….. but find it difficult to believe Hugo would not trade Reinbacher for a talented forward closer to the show
The only player who would choose Montreal would be a guy who's already stuck in Winnipeg or Edmonton and even then Montreal would need to be their only other option. But since that scenario would never happen and there would be at least one other option available besides Montreal, no player would choose the Habs. For a player, being a Hab isn't the goal, it's an occupational hazard you try to avoid as best you can. That goes double for Winnipeg and is true for all Canadian markets to varying degrees. We are not and will never be a "preferred option".I don't. Clearly they like Reinbacher, enough to not draft Michkov. Boston College Alum Kevin Hayes who clashed with Torts had his ear.Tortorella was already hired when Gauthier was drafted. Briere said that Gauthier told them he was made to be a Flyers on draft day.
It's interesting that we liked Reinbacher more than Gauthier. It would have fit the philosophy of trading picks for already drafted young players, I think an elite winger was also more of a need for us than a dman, although we do need a guy with #1 dman potential.
We'll see but Bobrov's history in NY has me worried that we missed out.

then there's dummies like Mc1stround who volunteered to stay in EdmontonPlayers like Gauthier, Fox and Lindros, who dictated where they would/wouldn't play, without ever having played a game in the NHL, are highly unlikeable.
I doubt anyone picks Vancouver or Ottawa over uaThe only player who would choose Montreal would be a guy who's already stuck in Winnipeg or Edmonton and even then Montreal would need to be their only other option. unless he needs money nowWith all due respect to Senior Friedman, there is no way that was the reason for this separation. That’s a real nothingburger, even if accepted as factual, given that he’ll likely make $50-100 million over his career.
I doubt that.unless he needs money now
I suspect if you have a chance to get $$$ now or wait X time, you want it now too.I doubt that.
Sure but that wouldn’t completely ruin a relationship with an NHL franchise that just drafted me 5th overall and is still viewed as a marquis franchise despite recent problems.I suspect if you have a chance to get $$$ now or wait X time, you want it now too.
