Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

In a league where violence is glorified and generally brushed under the carpet as no big deal, I don't find it the least bit surprising that players automatically view vigilante justice as a legitimate method to handle things.

By the way, after Martin Biron laughably said Rielly "might" get fined, but didn't think he'd get suspended, Rielly's been offered an in-person hearing, meaning a suspension of 6 games or greater is coming.

Annnnnnnd just like clockwork:

And the same people who think that such a response is fine are the same ones who don't get the connection between so-called "hockey culture" and gang rape.

hockey culture is no diff than NBA, NFL and other sport cultures. Hockey gets shit on by Westhead et al because it is white. He wouldn't investigate homophobia or such in NBA or NFL as he is afraid of the conclusion he will have to reach.

nah...the average NHL player is way more of a hick than the average NFL or NBA player

He doesn't investigate the NBA because basketball isn't a real sport. And he doesn't do the NFL because it's already been exposed several times. He does hockey because he's a Canadian journalist and in Canada hockey is the only sport that matters. He also does it because for too long, the bulk of the Canadian media has fawned over the game rather than put it under a bright light. That's how this fuckery has gone on for so long and gotten so bad: because too many Canadian journalists would rather sniff Matthews' jock strap than do a hit piece when a hit piece is needed.

Westhead is a fucking hero.

you like your favourite sport being shit on, I get it
I like my favorite sport being shit on when it deserves to be shit on. I like the Habs to be shit on when they deserve to be shit on. I like my hockey play by play to reflect reality, not be a pompom waving PR video. If the Habs are playing like shit I don't want a broadcast crew that pretends otherwise. I want them to call out the team for being shit. Why do you want journalism that tells you only what you want to hear instead of what's true? Instead of what you need to hear?

If Hockey Canada is rotten to the core then it needs to be destroyed. And if Rick Westhead's journalism helps to make that happen then good. Let justice be done or the heavens fall. I don't give a shit if we send a team to the WJC or not. I'd rather not send a team if we can't be assured that half the roster aren't going to be raping young women in their spare time.

if the boys are found not guilty what are chances all journalists like Westhead will say oops

X wants its pound of flesh
If im a team owner I don't want a rapist on my team, even if his crime hasn't been proven to a legal standard in court. OJ was acquitted of murder in court but that didn't mean he was innocent. The legal machinations is just a parlor game. We know these players did it. They filmed it. Court proceedings at this point should be irrelevant as far as their employers are concerned. Their NHL careers are over no matter what a judge says.
