Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

They're my Cup favorites. Short of them running into a string of injuries or Jamie Benn deciding to go full meathead again, I think this is their year.
If "o a tinger" is playing well. I agree.

Vegas has been bad in 2024 so that should be an easy win

Even if he's mediocre, Dallas has so much offensive depth.

Las Vegas might have been bad all year, but I'm curious if they're able to turn it on now that the playoffs are here.

I doubt the goaltending is able to.

And stone will suck even if he plays

Man, talk about a bad reward for winning the conference
Florida & Toronto, along with Winnipeg & Colorado should be feeling like they got fucked.

I really don't like this playoff format. The old format for the Western teams, assuming there are only two divisions:

Dallas - Vegas
Vancouver - Nashville
Winnipeg - Los Angeles
Colorado - Deadmonton (!!!)

I don't know about you, but those matchups interest me way more.

Seems clear that Molson is not going to grant permission to any team that might want to interview Jeff Gorton for a GM position.

I agree. I don't mind division champs getting a guarantee playoff birth, but giving them one of the top 3 seeds like they were doing with the South East conference and the team winning would routinely have the 8th highest point total in the conference?

Also: I like having different options for first round match-ups. It seems like every year, Toronto's playing Bawstun or Tampa in the first round. This year, they'll be playing Florida... which eliminated them in the second round.

Deadmonton & Los Angeles are playing again. Wouldn't surprise me if they played again in the first round next year.

I don't like this. If they get matched up in a 1-8 format, so be it. It seemed like no matter how hard we tried, we'd always plays Bawstun in the first round. So be it. But this current format basically removes half the conference as possibilities.

I'm not as strongly opinionated on this as others, I like divisional matchups, and right now it's 50% of them, and the rest is random. It's not a bad balance, but sometimes it leads to some strange scenarios.

Straight up 1-8 is great for diversity, and is more logical, but it makes it harder to build rivalry. It's a balancing act.
