Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

No idea what Philly's doing.

That Konecny deal is insane to me, regardless of where a team is in their championship pursuit.

They're a team that's going to be seeing the wheels of mediocrity spin in perpetuity. They'll never be close to good enough to contend, never be close to shitty enough to pick high in the lottery.

I can only hope.

I think Pezzetta was tone deaf. He can bitch privately to his buddies about taxes but fans (99.5% of which make far less than an NHL salary) do not give a fuck about his taxes.

What’s next? We gonna here how the food on charter jets isn’t always that great

A fucken joke of a contract , the Sandheim and Tippet contract should off ended the long term lunacay for a team going nowhere

Peg is in the same boat now with Ehlers and lets see bent nose fucks that on up as well

This… something I’ve never understood, hockey fans in Canada are very touchy about players whining about salary / taxes vs what the regular persons wage is.

I think I’ve only seen it once in the US… when Seattle fans were throwing quarters on the field upon ARod’s return after signing as UFA w Texas… 24-years ago now. If anything for US sports fans it’s spend whatever u need to get a player to help win

Comcast will never allow a Philly rebuild, shareholders will rip them to shreds - as they’re the worst revenue stream business of theirs to begin with at present

I think I posted Comcast CEOs comments here from their annual shareholders 2-years back: he reiterated Charlie Bronfman’s words: “1 playoff appearance / revenue can buy 3- years of goodwill”… that’s their mantra…

Because there's no hard salary cap in any sport other than hockey and the NFL. In baseball, fans shit on owners for pocketing equalization payments and fielding cheap, shitty teams (see: Pittsburgh Pirates fans) But in hockey where teams can only spend to the limit of the cap, fan anger shifts from avaricious owners to "greedy" players.

Flyers are the runt of the litter in a very big and competitive sports market. They need to stay relevant.

Habs have zero competition.

Do you know what Comcast is in right now .. A FUCKEN REBUILD after missing the playoffs 4 straight years

These regimes are moronic , the quicker you start the rebuild the sooner you might be more competitive

Most simply kick the can down the road until its forced upon you

NFL has a soft hard cap with 50 ways to work around it
