Best of the internet

Now that you say it reminds you of high school, I totally get it. It’s another LOF nostalgia play, like Harvey’s and Dallas

at least Tony Robbins doesn't make being a fake christian central to his grift.
Who cares? Am I Christian? Would I watch Osteen because he's Christian? I like the message of what he's saying, and it isn't bogged down in religious Jesus-y crap, because if it was, I wouldn't have sat through 5 minutes of it (and like I said, I try to turn it off just before he does the praise Jesus thing). If I like the message of Tony Robbins, I'm not doing a fucking background check on him and his nonsense either.

you are taking self-help advice from a preacher in a church.....because he's not christiany.

I'd think you wouldn't take advice from someone who even you can see is an obvious fraud.

I'm listening to positive, helpful, life lessons from a guy I see on tv once in a while.

There's no fraudulent aspect of the sermon. It's about how to be good to people and yourself, how to manage your thoughts and actions in a positive way that will make your life better. I don't know what he does outside those sermons, and I don't care. It doesn't take away from the message.

Just let it go, LOF. Don’t let zeke live rent free in your head
I mean, it's like questioning the work of your lawyer because you find out he's a bible thumper and care about that sort of thing. His work product could still be great stuff, perfect for your needs, but oh, he's really into Jesus so gotta throw that contract away. Or he cheats on his taxes, so to hell with that great deal he negotiated with you - gonna have to tear it up and start over with another guy who paid Uncle Sam in full.

it's not "finding out he's a bible thumper".

his entire fake persona is him being THE PASTOR OF THE BIGGEST CHRISTIAN MEGACHURCH IN THE WORLD.

If I found out my lawyer was a cliche ridden fraudster, I would dump them asap

Who gives a shit? I don't even understand the criticism - he's the pastor of a big church? Is that his crime?

it's like hiring a lawyer because you really like his legal advice, only to find out he's not a lawyer at all.

but hey, you like his legal advice so you keep him.

So he's not a pastor? Or he is one? I could care less.

The subject matter of the sermon has nothing to do with his position or anything he's doing out there.

Except that I'm not listening to anything he says because he is or isn't a pastor. If he was just some guy who had a John Oliver style show where he spoke to the camera and just talked about ethics and life stuff, I'd have the same interest. I don't care who he is, I care about what he's saying.
