Even aside from the fact that Osteen is a monster that weaponizes a twisted version of Christianity and warmed-over self-help drivel for the express purpose of separating poor people from their money…I don’t know how just his dead, soulless eyes that his insincere smile doesn’t reach them doesn’t cause you to just shudder and turn off the TV when his face appears on it.
Monster? I honestly don’t know what the allegation is? That he has a church and it has members? What has he supposedly done that is different than any other church or synagogue, other than being more successful than most?Even aside from the fact that Osteen is a monster that weaponizes a twisted version of Christianity and warmed-over self-help drivel for the express purpose of separating poor people from their money…I don’t know how just his dead, soulless eyes that his insincere smile doesn’t reach doesn’t cause you to just shudder and turn off the TV when his face appears on it.
I've never heard of the guy but the message as you described is the one I was brought up with and try to adhere to today.
on one hand people are being a little unfair, but the problem is basically that televangelists are just about the worst form of scum on earth.Monster? I honestly don’t know what the allegation is? Again, none of it has anything to do with the subject of his tv sermons, so the answers are irrelevant.
Is that the issue? Literally the reason why anyone gives to any church or synagogue, in the hope that they’ll receive benefits from above. What LOF is describing is not Osteen’s main message though. His thing is that he’s one of the preeminent preachers of the “prosperity gospel”.
Essentially that being rich in and of itself is a sign that you have God’s favour. And that personal donations to Osteen will cause God to increase your own wealth, like some kind of heavenly pyramid scheme.
I mean, mine isn’t a commentary on anything religious or anything personal to him. If his words were coming out of the mouth of some non-religious instagram influencer, I’d be telling you guys that that guy has a good message.on one hand people are being a little unfair, but the problem is basically that televangelists are just about the worst form of scum on earth.
i will say that in the little i've seen of osteen, he's a good speaker and seems sincere. So many of them are phony, terrible people grifting shamelessly. He may believe some of what he says, but there's no doubt it's also made him very very rich.
All good stuff.
