Saw a while ago but it's just too good. Heidecker as always on another level.
Definitely in on it I think. Bill Maher was apparently none too pleased.I'm 5 and a half minutes in and if I'm having a hard time deciding if Fred is "in on it." I lean towards yes. He absolutely loves this kind of stuff and is so good at playing the "straight man."
Yeah, after watching the whole thing, it's very difficult to tell... but knowing Fred's humor and how good he can play that role, I think he's in on it. If he is, he's brilliant. Not once does he give into temptation and overplay it. He's 100% subtle the entire time. I mean, so much so that we are actually questioning if he was in on it or not, even though we know that he can't be so stupid to think that this was legit in any way.Definitely in on it I think. Lots of Heidecker’s comedy is about playing it like it’s straight, but it never is.
He’s got a movie review show where him and Greg Turkington (Neil Hamburger) review movies every episode….and since the beginning they’ve clearly never seen the movies in question, but talk about it as if they have.
It was this simple little gag of mocking shit YouTube & podcast film shows….where the people clearly didn’t know shit, but has evolved into this insanely rich universe of comedy that’s pretty unparalleled.
Between Decker the "TV" series, On Cinema at the Cinema, the courtroom drama it's nuts the depths they've gone too. Not for everyone that's for sure.
Oh yeah... his performance is obviously a performance. It's Armisen in that interview that's playing it so straight that it's impossible to tell if he's in on it.Lots of Heidecker’s comedy is about playing it like it’s straight, but it never is.
