This is looking more and more like a sweet deal to me. I know Necas will come back to haunt us, but it was time to fish or cut bait and at least we can move on from that bit of drama. Still have KK and the goalie situation - also a legit 2C, but getting Rantanen sure covers a lot of sins.

Drury is a fourth liner and as much as we all would have loved to have gotten rid of that KK contract he’s at least able to play in the top 9. Canes with Rantanen and Hall in and Necas and Drury out should at the very least have much more options to play with now up front. I’m not sure if Roddy can awaken the talent inside of Taylor Hall but he has been an enigma for most of his career…so much skill but not much consistency in his game.

We have cap room to pay Rantanen $14 million per next season, especially if we replace Orlov and Burns with Nikishin and Morrow.
