Canes Trade for Rantanen, Hall

Might even get a smile out of Brindy this week. I’m sure he is stoked to have a player like Rantanen. Supposedly really good in the locker room and community too

He wouldn't have been traded is he wasn't looking for 12-14m per on a longterm deal.
 
Good luck with him then. Good player but I wouldn't want to spend 15-16% of the cap on him. I like the move for this season for sure, I'm just always leery of huge contracts for term.
 
If there is one thing most people comment on with the Canes team as a whole year after year it’s that they don’t have a true star…or enough true stars…maybe Aho…but nothing else. Wouldn’t most hockey fans agree that Rantanen is a true star player? You have to pay for that…isn’t it time to do that here? Dundon I think realizes that if the player and fit is right.

Over the past 5 seasons he’s top 5 in points and goals. He’s a true star.

I’m never worried about this stuff with tulsky. He lives for this shit. He knows exactly what he can and can’t do when it comes to player salaries and the cap/budget. Like a chess player he always looking several moves ahead

I’d be shocked if they don’t bring Robinson back too, too good of a fit not to give him an extension! Morrow and Nikishin pencilled in next year as well is almost a given which gives them some true cost savings.

Manageable. Don't know if I would want my team shelling that out but the two teams are at different stages. Curious to see how he does without Mackinnon but Aho isn't exactly a slouch.
