Core 4 No More: The Motherfucking Off-Season Thread

It's the bones of a potential deal but I think Leafs need to add. I get the salary component but the talent disparity is just too wide. But I'm probably lower on Mo than most. I don't see his contract as any better than Weegar's (in fact it's far worse) and he's a much worse player too. JT is mostly a cap dump and Naz has a risky contract so I get that part of it at least.

I love Naz, but he's gotta have negative value or close right now with that deal. There aren't a lot of teams willing to spend 14-21 million dollars on tickets to Robidas Island and that's exactly what you're doing if you make that Kadri deal.
 
nah, players are pretty comparable. slight edge to weegar. and kadri's contract really sucks.
 
I can never go along with Rielly = Weegar or that being close at all. Agree that the kadri deal is awful tho.
 
I mean it was just an idea. There's other big conract guys teams might be interesting in moving.
 
He's not waiving. I don't even think Shanny and Tredummy are the types to ask such a player to waive given they're trying to win now, he's still a good player, he only has one year, and they have a bunch of money to spend on guys already.

If anything, they're going to focus their efforts on Marner, and I don't think he's waiving either.

So better get comfy with both sticking around next season.

Why the fuck would we want to saddle ourselves on a deal like that when Tavares is coming off in a year and Rielly is still a damn good player signed for kinda cheap for many years?

Bet you change your tune on this evaluation within a year or two years max when you're stuck with that Kadri cap hit and he's making Tavares look like Matthews.

The thesis is to finally acquire a top 2 stud d for a guy that is paid too much, and too long to be an ok flawed second pair guy! But ya the kadri contract is icky
 
Flames prob think Kadri’s contract ain’t half bad. He led their team in scoring…. by a country mile.

Probably something only their next GM has to worry about
