The next two or three days should yield a lot of these final decisions, since UEFA have asked for each league's plans by May 1. Bless brave little Sweden for being the first to actually make a decision because everybody else just seemed to be waiting for the first shoe to drop.

Germany wants to start next weekend and some English clubs have returned to training. Arsenal had most of their first team at their training ground, but all indoor facilities were closed. And only 5 players could train at a time, for 1 hour, before the next group of 5 could come in. Italy can resume small group training in mid-May, but by the time they can return to full training, it will be time to start next season.

Friend of mine at School of the Arts wrote me they are planning for fall occupancy, so it must be system wide. That can all changed, however.
Yeah. Important to keep in mind that right now everything is tentative.

I think Premier league will follow Italy and play with no fans
I think the TV money pressure on them is probably enough to tip it in that direction, as their television contracts are massive. Spain, Germany and Italy are in a similar position, but both Italy and Spain have bigger public health issues to deal with. In France, the TV money just isn't on the same level as those others. For the Euro leagues with smaller TV packages, it's easier to pull the plug. Like the NHL, they rely heavily on gate receipts and regional broadcast rights fees.

FIFA top doctor says nobody should play soccer until Sept. Just his 2 cents and many places are going to ignore his advice.

A bunch of premier league players don't want to play. Many of the young players have young kids and some have pregnant wives. Can't blame them .

Just curious if anyone heard if the NC General Assembly did reconvene this week and discussed the NC State Inspection stuff for vehicles? They were trying to waive late fees for people not being able to or not wanting to have someone in their vehicle during the COVID19 lockdown but apparently that had to be done when the General Assembly was back in session this week.

I would think the car inspection item would be a lower priority but I assume they will allow people to skip inspections for a while. I got my car inspected a few weeks ago and wasn't worried about it but I can see that people would like to delay it.

UNC system expects all campuses to open in August. Duke will decide in June.

Some speculation that some college FB teams may sit out if the season is this fall. I could see the Ivy league taking a year off. Power 5 teams are very unlikely to skip unless it's a team that is bad most years anyway.

Wake Forest hires BB coach from ETSU, Steve Forbes. I guess they hope the first round of the ACC tourney is not named for him. :)
Interesting hire. A lot of people assumed they'd just go hire Wes Miller from UNCG, but Forbes has a big boy resume and would have been a hot name in the market had the pandemic not intervened. One red flag for me though ... he was on the Bruce Pearl staff at Tennessee that cheated their little butts off and all got show-cause sanctions from the NCAA as a result. Pearl is a real slimeball and I have a hard time not assigning guilt by association ... but there's no doubt that Forbes is a good basketball coach. We'll see, Wake ... we'll see. But if you end up in trouble in a couple of years, don't say you weren't warned.

Forbes only became a head coach at age 50 which is pretty late. ( Not counting a few years as a JC head coach. )

In the SEC fans pretty much expect cheating so Pearl fits right in at Auburn

Georgia letting kids skip the driving test to get their first license.

Latest MLB rumor is 3 divisions of 10 teams by location to cut down on travel but playing in home stadiums. Could be Red sox, Yanks, Mets, Pitt, Philly, Wash, Baltimore , Atlanta, Tampa, Miami for one group (my speculation). 4 AL, 6 NL.

Ditching the damned interleague games would be fine with me.

No speculation needed... :)
