Fooooooooooooooooodddd

there's probably some Gordon Ramsey level swearing and dishes being aimed at people's heads...but mostly about how single-minded. volatile.weird food pros are.

There's an excerpt of the book in The New Yorker...contains a spoiler about someone's death but will give you a great taste of subject matter and Buford's writing chops.

Not concerned about swearing. Pretty sure fuck was the first English word I learned.

i haven’t been to MTL for about 20 months; don’t even know which of former food haunts survived

I don't either. I've been walking around a fair bit at night since the lockdowns were lifted, but I haven't really kept an eye out.

I know Tuck Shop is still alive and kicking. I haven't heard anything from Moishes in what feels like eons, but they were supposed to move.

None of my friends are comfortable enough to go to a restaurant yet, so I'm just cooking at home and inviting people to eat on the porch.

Tuck Shop is my favorite, the Big in Japan bar's my favorite but one day I'll hit up the one Japanese bar @CH1 mentioned (whose name escapes me) a while back.

So, since it's the middle of summer, let's talk about this.

Any new places to eat or drink in Montreal that some of you can list/recommend? Or not even new places, just places in general.

I found out earlier today that my favorite place (Big in Japan Bar) is closed for good, which makes me sad. Guess I'll have to find a new place.

I still have plans on visiting Gorudo at @CH1 's recommendation. Just waiting for them to open back up, they're thinking September.

To be clear, I only had cocktails at Gorudo. They were unique and delicious.

Here's hoping they open up in September.

I wanted to try out the Atwater Cocktail Club on Friday, but there was already 20 people in line at 8PM. So yeah, no can do.

Are your restaurants fully open or limited capacity like us in Toronto

Limited capacity, but they're close to being fully open. There's a lot of places that still do almost uniquely takeout out of fear for their staff.

I really wonder how things are going to be in Fall when the cases inevitably go up.

They're fully open here for quite some time. After a week of opening people seem to fall right back into "what pandemic".
